The last ten trolleybuses of the 102 purchased from Belarus will be brought to Chisinau by October 12, the head of the Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci announced in the October 3 meeting of City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports. As many as 84 trolleybuses have been delivered so far. Another eight are on the way, while the last ten will be loaded and sent on October 5. On October 15, after the Chisinau’s Day, there will be staged a festivity that will be attended by the administration of the Minsk trolleybus plant. Gheorghe Morgoci said they will discuss the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement. The Chisinau City Hall bought the 102 trolleybuses from the Belarusian plant “Belkommunmash” within a project to modernize public transport that is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and the European Union. The project costs €13.7 million. €10 million represents the loan provided by the EBRD and EIB at an interest rate of 5% a year. It is repayable in 10 years, with a grace period of two years. Another €3 million is a grant provided by the EU within the European Neighborhood Policy Instrument.
