Last potential election runners

Two more political organizations and three persons who want to run as independents submitted the documents required to be registered as runners in the November 30 elections to the Central Election Commission (CEC) on October 30. Today is the last day for the submission of applications, IPN reports.

The two organizations are: the Centrist Union of Moldova headed by Mihai Petrache and the Political Party for Nation and Country led by Nicolae Utica. Petru Stamati, Anatolie Doga and Valeriu Plesca want to run as independent candidates.

As a result of a draw, it was decided that Valeriu Plesca will be under No. 23 in the ballot. He will be followed by Anatolie Doga (24th), the Centrist Union of Moldova (25th), Petru Stamati (26th), and the Political Party for Nation and Country (27th). The order in the ballot will become final after the applicants are registered as election runners. The CEC has seven days to examine the documents.

Twenty election runners have been registered so far – 18 political parties, one electoral bloc and one independent candidate. The documents of another seven contenders, including the five submitted today, are being examined.
