Last night’s rain caused damages
Flooded streets, trees torn down, traffic jams, damaged vehicles, and localities without electricity. These are some of the consequences of the last night’s windstorm and rainfall.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service stated that 21 trees and one billboard were taken down in Chisinau, and seven cars were damaged. Some of the trees fell on electricity cables, some right in the middle of the street and blocked traffic for some time. A house went on fire in the capital. It is supposed that it burst in flames after being struck by lightning.
23 settlements from 7 districts were cut from power supply yesterday. Shortly after, specialized teams reconnected those locations to electricity. In Cotul Morii village, Hincesti district, 7 unfinished cellars were flooded. Workers from the Emergencies Division of Hincesti, using one special vehicle and two motorized pumps, have pumped about 260 cubic meters of water.
Weather forecasters have announced abundant rainfall and strong winds for the second halves of Monday and Tuesday.
