Last Moldovan wrestler at world champs defeated

Moldova won no medal at the World Wrestling Championships that closed on September 27, Info-Prim Neo reports. Moldova's last representative in the competitions, Greco-Roman wrestler Vladimir Zaporojan, 66 kg category, ranked 13th. In the first round, Zaporojan beat Venezuela's Luis Liendo, but was then defeated by Armenia's Sasun Ghambaryan. In the Greco-Roman wrestling rankings, Moldova shares the 30th spot together with another 25 countries. In men's freestyle wrestling standings, Moldova is the 18th, while in women's standings, it is the 17th. Freestyle wrestlers Alexandru Burcă (74 kg) and Natalia Budu (51 kg) showed the best results at the championships. They both ranked fifth, Info-Prim Neo reports. This year's World Wrestling Championships held in the Danish town of Herning brought together more than 500 athletes from over 50 countries.
