The parliamentary elections of 2014 and the local elections of 2015 were rigged, vice president of the Central Election Commission Stefan Uratu said in the program “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
According to Uratu, some 20% of the vote was fixed in some of the communities during the local elections of 2015. “I can say with certitude that the local elections in some settlements were 4% to 20% rigged,” he stated.
Stefan Uratu noted that the fraud consisted in the inclusion of the same person in the voter rolls for several times. “One and the same person was included in the register of voters for several times, making some changes in the name or surname. For example, in one case it was written with “i”, while in another case with “e”. Vasile could be found on the voter rolls as Vasili too, while Rotaru – as Rotari too. On a list of 200 voters, I identified over 20 cases of repeated inclusion of names. In some of the cases, one person was present on the list in three electoral constituencies. The lists were practically doubled,” he said.
The vice president of the CEC also said that he tried for several times to examine the voter rolls, but was banned access to these. “I ultimately went to court, but my application was rejected for the reason that those were personal data,” stated Stefan Uratu.
