Today is the last day when political campaigning ahead of the runoff election for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova is permitted. The Central Election Commission warns that campaigning is strictly prohibited on election day and the day before it, IPN reports.
According to the Electoral Code, on the day before and on election day, candidates are not allowed to appear in television or radio shows.
Also, the local public aauthorities and advertising broadcasters have the obligation to remove electoral advertising materials. The ban does not apply to information that was already posted on the internet.
The Contravention Code stipulates penalties for the continuation of political campaigning on the mentioned days by the media, election competitors and citizens. In the case of individuals, such acts are punished with fines of 2,000 to 3,000 lei, and in the case of legal entities – of 5,000 to 7,500 lei.
