Following an interruption in the power supply on the Ukrainian side at 6:30am this morning, the border crossing points Giurgiulesti - Reni and Ceadir-Lunga – Maloiaroslavets stopped work, the Border Police has said.
The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the way of a truck was blocked on the R-38 road near Moscovei village and another seven trucks were stopped on the R-34 road not far from Giurgiulesti village.
Contacted by IPN, Diana Tutu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, said the decision to stop the trucks and prevent them from continuing their way was taken in a move to avoid their blocking in snowdrifts given that it is snowing heavily.
During the night, rescuers performed works to unblock a number of units of transport. In Telenesti district, near Mandresti village, firefighters towed away four cars and a truck transporting fuel that got stuck in snowdrifts.
The people are urged to call 901 in emergencies. Three crisis cells were set up, in Balti, Cahul and Chisinau. These monitor the situation on roads and in settlements and decide when intervention measures are needed.
