A large crowd of people came together before the Parliament Building during the special sitting to vote in the Government headed by Democrat Pavel Filip. The people protested against the voting in of the new Cabinet. When this was given a vote of confidence, the people surrounded the Parliament Building. The protest involved sympathizers of the Party of Socialists, the Political Party “Our Party” and of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”. Dozens of police officers formed cordons to prevent the protesters from entering the Building, IPN reports.
The organizers of the protests Andrei Nastase, Ilian Casu and Ion Ceban entered the hall of the Parliament’s Building, where they initially asked for a break in the sitting and then for the sitting to be halted, but their request remained unanswered.
“We have no other solution than to surround the Parliament Building in protest at the decisions taken here. Let’s go around the Building to prevent those who betrayed us again from leaving it. Don’t yield to provocations,” said Andrei Nastase.
The Filip Government was voted in by the 57 MPs who formed a parliamentary coalition.
