A building located on Pushkin St, which houses the restaurant “Vatra Neamului”, caught fire last night. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said the flames covered about 450 square meters of the roof. Fourteen firefighting vehicles travelled to the scene to contain the blaze. All the persons from inside were evacuated and there were no casualties, IPN reports.

The call to 901 was made close to midnight. Initially, nine firefighting teams were sent to the scene as there was reported a new fire with increased intensity. The extinguishing operation turned out to be difficult owing to the night conditions and to the electric power and communications networks situated nearby.

After about three hours, the fire was localized. The firemen continued the works to dismantle the parts affected by the fire. The cause of fire is not yet known.
