Lands intended for social development of settlements would not be sold
The mayor’s offices will not be able to sell the lands intended for the social development of the settlements anymore, following a bill passed by the Parliament in first reading. The bill contains amendments to the Land Code by which the local authorities are obliged to allocate, not to sell, plots of land for building houses, especially to young families.
According to the Government, it was ascertained that some mayor’s offices started to sell these lands where there will be built facilities that are not so important for the community. Therefore, it arose the need to introduce clear corresponding stipulations to the legislation.
More than 60% of the villages do not have at the moment the land reserve of 5% intended for the social necessities of the settlement. This applies especially to the districts of Ocnita, Straseni, Telenesti and Nisporeni.
Currently, the reserve fund consists of about 550 hectares of land, including 16.7 hectares intended for the social necessities of the settlements, 475 hectares lands for common use and over 57 hectares for different purposes.
