An employee of the Vulcanesti Labor Inspectorate is investigated for passive corruption. He took 2,000 lei bribe from a company that illegally employed two persons. The inspector himself asked the money for not holding the employer accountable, IPN reports, quoting the National Anticorruption Center.
The inspector was arrested in his car immediately after he took the money. He will be initially held for 72 hours.
The labor inspector faces 5 to 10 years behind bars and a fine of 120,000 to 160,000 lei. He will also be banned from holding public posts or performing particular activities for a period of 7 to 10 years.
