The employers will be obliged to inform the salary earners about any amendments made to the work contract and not to allow discrimination against employees. Parliament adopted a bill to amend the Labor Code in the first reading, IPN reports.
Presenting the bill in Parliament, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Laura Grecu said that the bill transposes two directives of the Council of the European Union, as provided in the Association Agreement with the EU.
According to the deputy minister, the Labor Code stipulates the employees’ right to inform themselves about the work contract, its term, etc. The first directive provides for the introduction of the obligation for the employer to inform the employees about the amendments made to the collective work contract.
“By transposing the new directive, we aim to ensure the principle of non-discrimination of persons employed for a definite or an indefinite period of time. The employer will have to inform the employees working for a determined period about the job vacancies and to ensure appropriate professional formation chances for all the employees,” stated Laura Grecu.
The head of the Parliament’s commission on social protection Oxana Domenti said the amendments introduce a new point into the Labor Code by which the conditions and obligations of the employers to the persons employed for a definite period of time are detailed.
