The National Public Health Agency activated the laboratory in Cahul, where tests for COVID-19 will also be done. The personnel have been trained. Samples will be taken from persons suspected of having COVID-19 from southern Moldova, IPN reports.

After the May 5 meeting of the Single Command Center, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu said that 924 samples were processed on May 5 and 115 tested positive for COVID-19. Of those diagnosed with the virus, 19 are healthcare workers. The largest number of new infections was recorded in Chisinau - 69.

The total number of confirmed infections stands at 4,363. Also, 1,544 infected persons recovered.

As many as 227 persons are in a serious state and 28 of them were put on a ventilator. Four persons lost the battle with COVID-19 on May 5, the death toll rising to 136.
