"La Placinte" restaurant chain in Romania under insolvency

The “La Placnte” restaurant chain, which now consists of four units based in Bucharest, went into insolvency in Romania, at its own request. In 2023, which is the last reported year, the chain had debts totaling almost 10 million lei. The company argued that it cannot clear in due time this debts due to the insufficiency of funds, shows the document analyzed by Profit.ro, quoted by IPN.

In 2023, the company had a turnover of 15.1 million lei and losses of 1.3 million lei. The number of employees decreased from 86 to 47 people. Total debts decreased from 14.1 million lei to 9.9 million lei.

In 2022, Profit.ro announced that Bessarabian businessman Andrei Tranga and Trabo-Plus group of Republic of Moldova, the associates of Andy's Pizza SRL in Romania, which operates the local restaurant chain “La Placinte”, about a week before Russia's invasion of Ukraine decided to sell their shares in the business to a company registered in the Russian Federation.

Andrei Tranga and Trabo-Plus then decided to sell 100% of the capital of Andy's Pizza SRL to Food Traditions LLC based in Moscow for €304,000, according to termene.ro. In two months, the new sole shareholder of “La Placinte”, Food Traditions LLC, decided, for its part, to sell the company based in Romania to a Moldovan company at the same price. Thus, Andy's Pizza SRL is fully controlled by Lumea Gustului SRL Enterprise in Chisinau, as it was reported at the time.

The “La Placinte” restaurant chain was launched in 1999 in the Republic of Moldova and entered the Romanian market in 2013.
