The company Kroll, which carried out an audit of the financial situation in the country following the stealing of US$1 billion from three banks, gave a negative answer to the National Bank of Moldova’s request to allow publishing the report, Head of Parliament Andrian Candu said, quoted by IPN.
“A meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Bureau was held, where the governor of the National Bank Dorin Dragutanu presented the contract with Kroll and the company’s response letter concerning the publication of the report. The letter contains a negative answer. The company argues that the publication of the report will affect the integrity of the investigation and will minimize the possibility of recovering the stolen money,” stated Andrian Candu, adding that this is a professional approach that he supports.
The Speaker noted that he will discuss with jurists the possibility of presenting the report to representatives of civil society in a meeting so as to ensure transparency.
