Konrad Adenauer Foundation interested in Moldova justice sector reform
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation has asked the Moldovan Ministry of Justice in a bilateral meeting to present a list of priorities related to the Justice Sector Reform Strategy, which it would examine in an urgent manner. The Foundation's officials have also expressed their interest in the progress of the reform of the law enforcement agencies, in particular of the prosecution service, and in the eventuality of a new Constitution being developed and adopted, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Ministry of Justice said in a press release that the meeting focused on the technical assistance the German foundation has pledged to offer in 2012 to establish a mechanism of monitoring the implementation of the Justice Sector Reform Strategy.
At the meeting, Minister Oleg Efrim stated that the Ministry has already prepared a list of priorities for 2013, proposing to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation to consider some of them. These include the periodical training of justice sector actors on professional ethics and campaigns raising the justice sector actors' awareness of professional ethics. The Minister of Justice reiterated the openness of the Moldovan authorities to cooperate on any areas and projects of common interest.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is one of the main donors involved in the foreign assistance mechanism for supporting Moldova's reform in the justice sector. The next meeting for coordinating this assistance is scheduled for October.
