Kogalniceanu to become one-way street from June 1
The vehicles on the Chisinau street Mihail Kogalniceanu will move in only one direction from June 1. The decision was made public by acting mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu on May 30. He said the move is aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“There will be difficulties the first day, but such a measure is needed as that area is always full of traffic,” said Nistor Grozavu.
The vehicles on Kogalniceanu St will move from Buiucani district to Botanica district. The public units of transport will be diverted. Trolleybuses No. 3 and 4 will run on Bucuresti St, while the minibuses – on Mateevici, Bucuresti and Eminescu streets.
Gheorghe Morgoci, head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, said the trolleybus lines have been prepared, while the director of the road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Efim Cheptanaru assured that all the road signs will be set up by June 1. The works will be performed at night so as not to create traffic jams. The repair works on Kogalniceanu St were completed last week.
Only the public units of transport now go into the opposition direction, towards Buiucani, on Kogalniceanu St.
