Know candidates in your constituency! No. 43: Cahul

Constituency No. 43: Cahul embraces the town of Cahul and another 10 localities of Cahul district. The electors there will vote at polling places No. 43/1 to 43/29. The candidate who wins the largest number of votes in a single-member constituency, regardless of the voter turnout, emerges victorious.

The first spot on the ballot is taken by the Democratic Party’s candidate Oleg Creciun, a surgeon by profession. In 2016 - 2017, he served as deputy minister of health. In 2015-2016, he worked as the vice director and acting director of the National Emergency Medicine Institute. Since 2010 until 2015, he held a number of executive posts at the Cahul District Hospital. Currently, he is the director of this hospital. For the past two years, the candidate and his wife declared almost 667,000 lei salary revenues. The family owns an apartment, 1/3 of another apartment and a car. On February 19, Oleg Creciun announced his withdrawal from the electoral race. Under the Election Code, within seven days before the elections the registration of a contender can be annulled only by court.

The Party of Socialists’ candidate Yevgeny Osadchenko, a public administration manager, is under No. 2. In 1993-2000, he worked at the Carabineer Troops, while after 2000 at the State Guard Division of the Ministry of the Interior, for six years. In 2006 - 2010, he served as division head at the Cahul Police Inspectorate, while in 2010 - 2016 at the Cahul Emergencies Division. He is now MP assistant and the president of the Cahul local organization of the PSRM and is also a member of this party’s National Council. For the past two years, the candidate declared almost 151,000 lei salary revenues and nearly 124,000 lei pension. The candidate owns a house, an apartment and a car.

The Shor Party’s candidate Antonina Belobrova, an economist and merceologist by profession, takes the third spot. She heads the Cahul local organization of the Shor Party. Over the past two years, she earned 86,700 lei revenues while working at SRL Magazine Sociale (social stores). Antonina Belobrova owns 1/2 of a piece of farmland, 1/5 of a building lot and 1/5 of a house.

The Party of Communists’ candidate Gheorghe Gheţivu, a specialist in economy, building management and utilization of water supply and sewerage systems, comes fourth. He now manages “Apă-Canal Cahul”. Earlier, he worked as a chief engineer and acting director. He was deputy mayor of Cahul town. He declared for the past two years 325,000 lei salary revenues. He owns lots of land, a house and two cars.

The candidate of the electoral bloc ACUM Platform DA and PAS Sergiu Tutovan, an agronomist by profession, is under No. 5 In 1990-1995, he taught at the Agrarian University. Since 1995, for 13 years, he worked at the Giurgiulești Customs Post. Later, he served as the deputy head of Cahul district and district councilor. Since 2010, he worked at “Agrimatco Service” SRL. He is the deputy head of the Cahul local organization of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. For the past two years, the candidate and his wife declared almost 739,000 lei salary revenues. He earned over 144,000 lei allowances. The family owns a lot of land and two cars.

The Our Party’s candidate Sergiu Renţa, a specialist in international relations and an economist, comes sixth. He currently does not work, but serves as a councilor and heads the group of the Our Party on the Cahul Municipal Council and the Cahul District Council. In 2015, he ran for mayor of Cahul on behalf of the Our Party. Sergiu Renţa declared over 26,000 lei allowances earned as a councilor. He owns two lots of land, two cars, an agricultural company and a service and trading company.

The Liberal Party’s candidate Ștefan Secăreanu, a journalist by profession, is under No. 7. He served as an MP on behalf of the People’s Front, the Christian Democratic People’s Party and the Democratic Convention in the legislatures of 1994-1998, 1998-2001, 2001-2005, and 2005-2009. He worked as an editor at the National Television, presenter at the National Radio Station and editor-in-chief and director of the publication “Țara” (“Country”). Currently, Ștefan Secăreanu works as an editor at the State Agency on Intellectual Property. For the past two years, the candidate and his wife declared almost 611,000 salary revenues. He owns an unfinished building that was donated to him.

Independent candidate Ion Groza, a teacher of theology, is under No. 8. He was director of a Christian foundation and served as a priest at a church. For over ten years, he worked at the district Firefighting Service. He entered politics in 2000. He was a member of the “Our Moldova” Alliance and then became a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. In 2000 - 2015, he served as a district councilor. He headed the Cahul local organization of the PLDM. After the local elections of 2015, he became the head of Cahul district. In 2017 -  2018, the candidate earned over 401,000 lei salary and allowances. Ion Groza owns two lots of land, a house, 1/2 of another house and a car.
