The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) Friday launched a mechanism for reporting corruption cases within the institution through a campaign titled “Know a corruption case in the CCCEC? Use the yellow card!” Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Center. The CCCEC calls on the people to stop being indifferent, take attitude and report the cases of corruption committed by employees of the CCCEC. For the purpose, the institution put boxes for collecting ‘yellow cards’ in visible and accessible places at the Centers’ head office in Chisinau and at the local subdivisions in Balti and Cahul. A link was created on the Center’s website that includes information about the legislation, frequently asked questions about the corruption reporting mechanism, the cases of corruption that can be reported, etc. The complaints will be collected, processed and interpreted by a nongovernmental organization – SocioPolis Investigations and Consultancy Center, which was selected by contest last month. The center will prepare statistical reports on internal and external reporting that will be published on the websites of the Government and the CCCEC. Another NGO, the National Center of Resources and Social Welfare (CRRAS), which was also selected by contest, will implement another mechanism for preventing corruption. The Center has worked out a strategy for measuring corruption in the social systems of Moldova. The National Corruption Perception Index strategy was already used by the CRRAS in surveys carried out in the education, healthcare and small and medium-sized businesses sectors. On the basis of the survey results, the CRRAS devised a set of methods for educating the public and engaging the mass media and the people in the fight against corruption. These measures aimed at fighting corruption were envisioned in Moldova’s Millennium Challenge Corporation Threshold Country Program.
