The visit made by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis to Chisinau shows that Romania supports Moldova’s development. This visit is now more important given that it was paid shortly after the investiture of the Gaburici Government and is beneficial to the future relations between the two states. Such opinions were expressed in the talk show “Special edition” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Alexandru Cauia, dean of the Law Faculty of the Moldova Free International University, said it is important that this visit was made not long after the Cabinet was invested and it thus confirms Romania’s support for everything that is related to Moldova’s development. As Klaus Iohannis will meet with the leaders of the pro-European parties later today, the position that these will state is also important.
Valeriu Matei, director of the Romanian Cultural Institute of Chisinau, said the two-day visit by the President of Romania is favorable for developing the constructive relations between the two countries. Romania became Moldova’s main business partner as it opened its market for the Moldovan products.
Media expert Cristian Tabara said President Klaus Iohannis transmitted Romania’s constant and loyal support for Moldova and the fears that Romania can undermine Moldova’s independence are unfounded. “Only the Putin regime deals with annexation now,” he stated.
Referring to the comments that the Romanian head of state should have had a harsh message as regards the co-opting of the Communists for investing the Government, journalist Ion Terguta said the Party of Communists will not hold executive posts in this Government and will be thus unable to influence the relationship with Romania.
The Romanian President is paying a two-day official visit to Moldova. He met with President Nicolae Timofti and Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and is to meet with the political leaders Vlad Filat, Marian Lupu, and Mihai Ghimpu, and with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu. Afterward, he will give a speech before students of the State University of Moldova.
