Klaus Iohannis to visit Moldova on Romanian Language Day

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Chisinau on Saturday, on the invitation of President Maia Sandu. The visit also takes place in the context of the Romanian Language Day, celebrated in both countries on August 31.

“President Klaus Iohannis will convey in Chisinau a firm message of support and encouragement for the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova, in their effort of reform, democratization, irreversible implementation of the principles of the rule of law and securing the European path”, Iohannis’s office said in a press release.

The Romanian president will also urge all international partners to continue providing comprehensive, predictable and sustained assistance to the Republic of Moldova on all levels, especially in the context of the war of aggression waged by Russia against Ukraine and all the risks arising from this complex security situation.

During the visit, Iohannis and Sandu will sign the Joint Declaration on Bilateral Cooperation for Strengthening the Resilience of the Republic of Moldova, which defines and strengthens bilateral cooperation in this vital field for the consolidation and protection of democracy and the stability of the Republic of Moldova.
