“The responsibility for ensuring this direction is borne by all the forces that voted for the Cabinet as they must ensure efficient and stable governance in line with the messages given by the people in elections,” said the Romanian head of state.
Klaus Iohannis congratulated Chiril Gaburici on his appointment as Prime Minister and wished him success. “It is an interesting period for Moldova. You have a young Premier who came from the business sector and has methods that can often help in administration too and I think this is a great chance. I wish this to be so,” he stated, noting that Romania will do its utmost to support Moldova on its European and democratic path.
Chiril Gaburici said the Government of Moldova aims to continue doing reforms in the areas with impact on people’s lives, namely economy, finance, justice, and corruption fighting. “I want Moldova to have a warm and sincere relationship with Romania. We need this friendly support on our road to the European Union,” he stated. He described Klaus Iohannis’ visit to Chisinau as a signal of support for Moldova’s European course and thanked Romania for the assistance provided in implementing bilateral projects, expressing his conviction that the cooperation in the future will be as good.
In the meeting, Chiril Gaburici and Klaus Iohannis discussed the major projects that were implemented and are yet to be implemented in Moldova with Romania’s support. Among these are the building of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline and energy infrastructure, the modernization of nursery schools, the creation of the emergency medical assistance SMURD and the transport interconnection and bridges reconstruction projects.
