“Romania is near the Republic of Moldova and near its European path. I wish the Moldovan citizens what I wish for the Romanian citizens,” the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis said in a meeting with Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu in Bucharest, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Moldovan legislature.
The two officials discussed the bilateral relations between Moldova and Romania, the economic and sociological situation in Moldova, the October 30 presidential elections, the European integration agenda of Moldova and regional security in the context of the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format.
Andrian Candu spoke about the country’s internal priorities for the immediate future. He assured that the commitments assumed through the priority reform action roadmap agreed with the EU will be fulfilled by the end of the current session of Parliament.
The Speaker thanked the Romanian experts for the sector expertise provided in advancing the justice sector reform. He reiterated the importance of stimulating the implementation of projects to build electric grids to Romania.
Andrian Candu thanked Romania for the unconditional support offered to Moldova, including for the humanitarian assistance provided for particular groups of people in a very important moment.
For his part, Klaus Iohannis called on the Moldovan authorities to continue implementing the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement signed with the EU at the same pace.
Speaker Andrian Candu is paying working visits to Bucharest and Brussels during June 13-16.
