The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis said that the EU needs a stable and prosperous neighborhood, while the Romanians support the European course and reformation processes in the partner countries. “The relationship with the Republic of Moldova and the firm support that we offer to its European path occupy a special place in this framework,” the Romanian official stated in his Europe Day speech, IPN reports.
The Head of State noted that Romania will continue to promote regional cooperation projects like those from the Danube or Black Sea regions. “In three years, Romania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We must continue to develop the profile of an EU member state, to prepare and promote positions in the European decision-making process and to better communicate inside the Union and outside it,” he stated.
Klaus Iohannis said the European Union meant and means dialogue, cooperation and solidarity for the common benefit of the member states and, above all, of its citizens. On the occasion of Europe Day marked on May 9, the official transmitted his message of solidarity, confidence and support for the European project.
