Kiril Motpan: We could witness appearance of Social-Democratic party

In the future, we could witness the appearance of a Social-Democratic party, stated Kirill Motpan, secretary general of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA). According to him, the PDM and PSRM could unite for the parliamentary elections in order to seize power. In the public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year”, staged by IPN News Agency, the politician said that attractive projects and proposals are needed to convince the people of the power of the pro-European parties, which can change the situation in the country.

Kirill Motpan noted that there will be a harsh struggle. “Campaigning already started and this was seen in the local elections of last week, when the PDM invested 500,000 lei in Telenesti district to win the mayoral elections. This way the party won the elections in ten communities. “It won’t be easy. These undemocratic actions will be multiplied. They have instruments and obscure funds and do nothing to reveal the illegal activities,” he stated.

The secretary general of the PPPDA said less Euro-demagogy is needed. In 2009, over 70% of the citizens supported the European course. Now the figure fell to under 40% because the current government disappointed the people. “The fact that the parliamentary elections could be held based on the mixed-system shows once again that Vlad Plahotniuc wants to remain in power. The way in which the single-member constituencies will be created will favor only the PDM and PSRM, which want to keep this anti-people regime in power. I’m convinced that things will change,” he underlined.

According to him, the consolidation of the pro-European and anti-oligarchic forces remains a priority and the people’s confidence in the change wanted by the center-right forces depends on this. The new electoral system that was insistently promoted by the PDM and PSRM will give a harsh blow to the democratic values in Moldova. “We will suggest the same thing as now – the people should become more actively involved to ensure the change. Or Moldova could reach an economic and political deadlock not only at internal level, but also at international level. The mixed system is favorable only to the PDM and PSRM and we should do anything for the people to understand this. They will try to remain in power,” stated Kirill Motpan.

In the same connection, he noted that during the eight-year rule by the current political class with a declared pro-European course, the country suffered a lot and the citizens do not believe in the European course. “The idea that the European course is promoted by criminals was cultivated and the center-right parties now have the very important task of disseminating the correct message – that the current political class should leave and a new class should come, which would think about the country’s future,” he stated.

The public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year” is the 81st installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.

The next debate entitled “Starting position of political parties and potential independent before the electoral year” will take place in the conference hall of IPN News Agency on November 24, starting at 2pm. This will involve representatives of the unionist dimension of the political landscape.
