Kindergartens in Chisinau issued with circular about prophylactic immunization

The Ministry of Health dispatched a circular about the prophylaxis of vaccine-preventable diseases in groups of children to preschool institutions in the municipality of Chisinau. According to the document, there is a risk of an outbreak of measles, rubella, poliomyelitis and other infectious diseases in the Republic of Moldova amid the large wave of Ukrainian refugees, almost half of whom are children, IPN reports.

Representatives of the Chisinau Public Health Center underlined the necessity of cooperating with local primary medical assistance institutions so as to ensure the vaccination of children in accordance with the provisions of the National Immunization Program, runs the circular.

Asked in a news conference about the risk of an outbreak of infectious diseases, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health Svetlana Nicolaescu said that particular risks that the situation will worsen in the context of migration exist, but a decisive role is played by the measures to protect the population, including children, and by the method of organizing migration flows.

According to her, the authorities mobilized all the resources to prevent such a development.  There are sufficient vaccines to immunize Moldovan children and also refugee children.

The vaccines administered as part of the National Immunization Calendar are free of charge and can be requested from the family doctor.
