The repair was possible thanks to US$89,900 in grant funding provided in the framework of a project to improve the educational environment, financed within the Kusanone” Program, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Embassy of Japan said the money was used by the Comrat mayor’s office to perform works to repair the kindergarten: thermal insulation of the external walls; renovation of the adjoining area; paving in the yard and on access ways, and modernization of the fire safety system.

The goal of the project was to create optimal conditions for the educational process, to ensure the health and security of the 319 children and 56 educators and ancillary workers of the kindergarten.

Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Yamada Yoichiroa said that “when Russia’s inhuman and cowardly war of aggression against Ukraine is over, we will see the real renaissance of Moldova”.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects - “Kusanone” Program was launched in Moldova in 2008. So far Japan provided over US$7 million in grant funding for 86 projects in such fields as education, healthcare and public utilities.
