Kindergarten managers demand psychologists

Kindergarten managers say their institutions need psychologists to work with the children and their parents. The opinion was shared by kindergarten managers, as the subject was discussed Friday at a round table in Chisinau, titled “The family's role in educating a child,” Info-Prim Neo reports. The head of the Education Division from Chisinau, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, maintains this is “a must of the time.” “All the emotional, cognitive spheres and their bases form in children in the pre-school period, and the family needs to be aware of the children's activities and learn to talk to them during all the development stages,” Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said. Kindergarten managers say they often have communication problems with parents. They say psychologists could help the kids whose parents work abroad. “Today's situation is worrying since many Moldovan families are separated. We found cases when the little ones tried to cope with situations difficult even for the grownups,” said Natalia Zotea, a methodologist with a kindergarten from the capital. The biggest problem, she says, is the lack of affection on the part of parents. Tatiana Rotaru, the manager of kindergarten 91, says “there are different families, and the even the two-parent families have problems that must be discussed with specialists.” “The psychologists could help educators to better communicate with the children they nurse during a big part of the day,” she said. Her colleague Ana Popov says conflicts keep appearing between parents and educators. “The young specialists are weakly prepared. They lack skills to communicate with the parents,” Popov said. Emilia Moraru, a psychologist with Mircea Eliade high school, has suggested the educators and teachers to openly talk with parents and view them as partners in educating the young generation. She says the reunions with the parents should be pleasant for both sides, and not turn into morale lessons, as often happens. The round table was organized by the Education Division and sought a better partnership among the school, family and community in preparing the children for life.
