The kindergarten “Ghiocel” in Satul Nou village of Cimislia district was renovated with financial support from the Government of Romania, through the program of technical and financial assistance for preschool education institutions of Moldova, to the value of €20 million, IPN reports.
The money was provided through the Social Investment Fund of Moldova. According to a press release of the Fund, 4.1 million lei was allocated for renovating the kindergarten that has a capacity of 120 places. The money was used to carry out repair works inside the institution. The roof was renovated and the walls were thermally insulated. Furniture was purchased; the playground was outfitted with swings and slides, while the nursery school’s yard was paved.
The Fund’s executive director Mircea Esanu said that one more group will be opened at this kindergarten soon. “Based on the preliminary investments made, the mayor’s office will be able to open a crèche group,” he stated.
Attending the inaugural ceremony, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca expressed his joy at the fact that the kindergarten was equipped with everything necessary for the good education of children with the support of the Romanian Government. “Our intention is to see all the kindergartens in Moldova look like that of Satul Nou in the medium term,” stated the diplomat.
The kindergarten’s director Nina Bumbu said that before being repaired, the building was in a deplorable state and had the ceiling damaged, while the walls were curved. The children were cold in winter because the external walls weren’t thermally insulated.
The grant provided by Romania was used to renovate over 800 kindergartens in Moldova. The beneficiaries of the program are over 200,000 persons - children, parents and teachers.
