The kindergarten “Romanita” in Gangura village of Ialoveni district was renovated with the financial support of the Government of Romania, which provided 1.8 million lei for the purpose. External and internal works were performed at the institution and this was outfitted with appropriate furniture and equipment for the playground, IPN reports.
The money was allocated through the Moldova Social Investment Fund. According to a press release of the Fund, the kindergarten started work in 1986 and since then had never been repaired. In 2013, the local authorities accessed the funds provided by the Government of Romania and three of the seven blocks of the institution could be thus repaired and equipped.
Attending the inaugural ceremony, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ionita said this is one of the successful projects implemented by Romania in Moldova. “Through the agency of the Moldova Social Investment Fund and the central and local authorities of Moldova, there were repaired over 845 kindergartens in all the country’s districts. By such projects we want to transmit a very important signal to the Republic of Moldova, supporting its European course. This project will definitely continue,” stated the ambassador.
“I want to thank our top development partner Romania that, through this project of technical and financial assistance for preschool institutions, together with the renovation of the Museum of Arts of Chisinau and the Organ Hall and the provision of school buses, offers us not only very valuable support, but also certainty and confidence in a prosperous future here, at home,” said the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Andrei Chistol.
The Government of Romania has allocated €26 million for the renovation and equipment of Moldovan kindergartens.
