Kidnappers demand ransom of US$3 000
Two persons abducted a 20-year-old man from his house in Calarasi
district and kept him as a prisoner for almost a week in different
places in southern Moldova. According to the Ministry of the Interior,
the kidnappers asked a ransom of US$3 000 for releasing him. They
threatened the relatives they will kill him if they do not pay the
money, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The relatives informed the police about the kidnapping. They said
persons phoned them and the man’s mother, who was abroad, and asked
money from them.
Infiltrating a person as a relative, the police found the abducted man.
As a result of negotiations, the kidnappers and the police agreed to
meet on the territory of a medical institution in Cantemir town. The
culprits were arrested immediately after the young man was set free.
The kidnappers aged 20 and 32 from Cahul town and, respectively,
Chisinau municipality were remanded in custody. They face up to 15 years
behind bars.
