Chisinau and Tiraspol will mutually recognize the vehicle insurance issued by each side. Such an agreement was reached by the key negotiators of Chisinau and Tiraspol Victor Osipov and Nina Shtanski after a series of meetings. The last one was held in Chisinau in the evening of April 7, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov told the reporters after the meeting that the drivers will hold their own vehicle insurance, recognized on both sides of the Nistru. The vehicle insurance operators from the two banks of the river will cooperate and will thus make sure that the drivers involved in accidents receive compensation, regardless of the place of the accident.
Chief negotiator on behalf of Tiraspol Nina Shtanski said the document on the reciprocal recognition of the vehicle insurance was initialed at the level of negotiators and is to be submitted to the Transnistrian administration and the Government of Moldova, which will take a final decision.
Nina Shtanski also said that effort will be made for the document to take effect before April 14, by which the introduction of the mandatory vehicle insurance for drivers from the right side of the river travelling to Transnistria was postponed. When the document takes effect, a decision will be taken about the several hundred drivers from the right side of the Nistru who already bought Transnistrian vehicle insurance at the beginning of this month, when the decision of the Transnistrian authorities was to take effect initially.
