The leader of the Party of Regions Alexandr Kalinin, who went on hunger strike to show his support for the employees of Moldova’s Railways who haven’t been paid salaries for over half a year, called on the rulers not to hide behind problems, but to solve then. The politician, who pitched a number of tents in the Great National Assembly Square, said that since he went on hunger strike, no functionary reacted, IPN reports.
“Tell me please, do the functionaries get their salaries? There is an acting Cabinet. They can say that they are unable to solve something as they don’t have powers. But when they need to solve a problem, they do it. The conclusion is that they are not interested in solving the problem of salary arrears at Moldova’s Railways. They don’t want to do this. Tell me please, do the MPs get their pays? Parliament was dissolved. Nevertheless, the MPs receive salaries. Why aren’t the ordinary citizens who work honestly paid? Why should we, the real patriots of the country, who work to form the GDP of our homeland, think how to feed our children tomorrow?” stated Alexandr Kalinin.
According to him, the number of tents put up in the central square of Chisinau will rise daily. The last word belongs to the people. If the problem is not solved, a catastrophe will follow. He called on the functionaries to support the persons who need assistance today and not to hide, but to come and tell the people how they will support them.
Alexandr Kalinin noted that the Party of Regions will enter Parliament and they will make sure that each functionary answers for not fulfilling their duties and for each day a child endured hunger. He referred to the employees of Moldova’s Railways, who complained that they cannot feed their children.
He thanked these people for the work they do and promised he will develop this sector when he enters Parliament.
