Mihai Pârgaru, one of the two K1 wrestlers who were accused of beating to death a young man in front of a nightclub two years ago, was fully acquitted, while the second athlete, Aurel Ignat, was acquitted partially, being fined for hooliganism only. The verdict was given by the Buiucani branch of the Chisinau City Court, IPN reports.
The Râșcani office of the Chisinau Prospectors Office, which asked for 15 years in jail for each of the two, intends to challenge the sentence. The prosecutors demanded to convict them of hooliganism and intentional serious bodily injuring committed by several persons that resulted in death.
During an altercation in the parking lot of a shopping center in Chisinau on the night of May 19, 2018, the culprits and their accomplice beat cruelly a young man, who died in the hospital in several days.
The man who co-participated is wanted and is being investigated in a separate case.
