K-1 wrestlers bring 17 medals from Riga
The national amateur K-1 team had an excellent performance at the Europe Cup that was recently held in Latvia. The Moldovan wrestlers have won eight gold medals, seven silvers and two bronzes, Info-Prim Neo reports. Moldova was represented by 18 athletes and almost all of them won medals.
The golds were brought by Ion Mihalcean, Alexandru Arcus, Ion Botnaru, Cristi Constantinov, Igor Mosneguta, Vlad Para, Mihai Pirgaru, and Stanislav Renita. Cristian Popa, Dan Popa, Alexandru Col, Nicolai Botnaru, Victor Rusu, Mihail Culeac, and Stefan Oboroceanu won silvers, while Ion Rosca and Alexandru Severin won bronzes.
The administration of the National Amateur K-1 Federation remained satisfied with the performance of the Moldovan wrestlers and has great plans for the future. “We will make effort to be allowed to host the World Championship in Moldova next year,” the Federation’s vice president Octavian Orheianu said in a news conference.
The K-1 Europe Cup in Riga brought together 300 wrestlers from 10 countries.
