Justice Ministry improves draft Antidiscrimination Law
The Ministry of Justice has formulated a new version of the draft law on the prevention and combating of discrimination, known as the Antidiscrimination Law, and sent it to all the institutions of the central administration for approval. The bill was also published on the Ministry’s website, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”Given the numerous calls made recently by representatives of civil society of Moldova and the diaspora communities, the Ministry of Justice improved the draft law taking into account the recommendations made by European institutions, which warned that the exclusion of any of the criterion formulated in the bill will equally affect the fundamental human rights and, thus, the integrity of the future law,” it is said in an informative note of the Ministry.
The authors of the bill say they also took account of the reasons and fears expressed by a part of the clergy and laity of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church and included provisions saying that the law will not affect the work of the religious denominations and is not applied to adoption and marriage related issues.
The Ministry says that the aim of the bill is to prevent and combat discrimination on any grounds and to promote the interests of all the people and it does not affect the ethical-moral values of the Orthodox Church. It voiced hope that the bill will be unconditionally supported by all the parliamentary parties.
