Justice Ministry employee investigated for corruption

The insolvency administrator of a number of companies and two accomplices of this, one of whom is an employee of the Ministry of Justice, are investigated for acts of corruption. As a result of searches, a person was arrested, while the other two are investigated outside jail and agreed to cooperate with investigators.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the liquidator violated a number of bankruptcy rules. As a result, the Ministry of Justice opened a disciplinary inquiry to punish this. To get rid of punishment, the suspect tried to bribe one of the members of the ministerial commission for discipline and accreditation of authorized administrator through an intermediary.

Based on telephone discussions, it was established that the intermediary promised to solve the insolvency administrator’s problem with the assistance of one of the commission members in exchange for €6,500.

The suspects face up to six years in jail over abuse of authority. The insolvency administrator was remanded in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center for 72 hours.

In a comment for IPN, the Ministry of Justice says the Ministry offers all the necessary support and cooperates with other institutions for justice to be made. “We are against illegalities. We will support the conduct of an equitable inquiry and a fair trial. We cannot yet give names as we must keep the secrecy of investigation and not affect it. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling this case, will decide when details can be made public,” reads the comment.
