Former Olympian and lawmaker Nicolae Juravschi has been re-elected president of the National Olympic and Sports Committee with 118 votes.
His challenger, Wrestling Federation president Ivan Gheorghiu got 32 votes.
Juravschi has been at the Committee’s helm since 2004, being re-elected four consecutive times previously.
Concluding his acceptance speech, Juravschi vowed he would not seek re-election in four years.
As a canoe/kayak athlete, Nicolae Juravschi won Olympic gold twice and became world champion eight times. This year, his disciple Serghei Tarnovschi won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.
