Foods with high sugar, fats or salt contents will be prohibited in schools and near them after a law to this effect enters in force on September 20. The list of prohibited food products has been compiled by the Ministry of Health, the National Health Center and other specialized public agencies, Info-Prim Neo reports. The law prohibits the cooking, selling and distribution of foods unrecommended to pre-school and school children inside kindergartens and schools as well as in a 100 meters range from them, which will be determined as the distance from the outlet's main entrance to the nearest corner of the educational establishment. The list of banned products includes candies, chocolate, bubble gums, French fries, oil-roasted peanuts, coffee, and many others. The complete list is available on the Ministry of Health's website. Failure to comply will be punishable by 200 to 400 lei fines in the case of individuals, and in the case of legal entities by 2,000 to 3,000 lei fines, and in both cases with a potential suspension of the license for up to 3 months.
