June 1, when it is celebrated the Child Protection Day, was declared a nonworking day in Moldova. A decision to this effect was adopted by Parliament in its May 27 sitting, IPN reports.
The author of the draft decision, Liberal MP Alina Zotea said that parents in Moldova spend less time together with their children and it is the duty of the authorities to find a method to ensure these spent more time together.
“It is important for the parents to be near their children on the Child Protection Day, especially because performances and other activities are staged on this occasion. The absence of parents from educational events negatively affects the children. It is a good when the parents can spend time together with the small ones,” stated the MP.
The Government is to decide when to amend the Labor Code. The intention of the Liberal MPs is for this decision to take effect this year.
