July might bring mayorship for pretors
A legislative initiative will be launched in July concerning decentralization in Chisinau. It will entail, among other provisions, the election, and not appointing as before, of the pretors and offering them the state of a district mayor. The speaker of the Parliament, Marian Lupu announced about this on Friday, July 7.
According to him, together with these empowerments, the district preturs will obtain own budgets. A proposal of a new way to elect municipal councilors will be made as well. In the speaker’s opinion, these actions are directed at democratizing the society and strengthening democratic behavior.
The Electoral Code will be also amended in July, passing first and second reading; the future amendments are the result of the CoE expertise. Amendments will be applied as well to a series of provisions of the Civil Code concerning defamation.
At the same time, the next week the parliamentary commission will bring to completion its work by launching three bills regarding the administrative decentralization of RM, a revised edition of the Law on Central Public Administration and o pack of amendments to the Law on local public finances.
