The health authorities on August 12 reported 474 new infections with the novel coronavirus. The level is close to the anti-record of July 17, when 479 new cases were confirmed. Vice director of the National Public Health Agency Vasile Guştiuc said that 2,564 tests were performed today. Of these, 568 were rerun tests. Of all the confirmed cases, three were imported from Turkey, one case was imported from France and one more case was imported from Romania. Those confirmed with the infection include 20 healthcare workers, IPN reports.
The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose to 28,697, with 7,842 being active cases. Of all the patients, 413 are in a serious state and 28 of them were put on a ventilator. With the six deaths reported today, the death toll now stands at 863.
Vasile Guştiuc noted that during inspections performed last week, irregularities were identified at 16 trading units, 15 barbershops, five drugstores, five medical institutions, etc. The inspectors made reports and ordered to close two barbershops and a trading unit.
Secretary of state at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sergiu Golovaci said the statistical data show the citizens continue to violate the imposed restrictions. There were identified over 500 irregularities and both private individuals and legal entities were penalized for violating the public health rules as a result.
