Moldovan judoka Ion Nacu finished seventh at the Junior World Judo Championships that are taking place in Zagreb, IPN reports.
In the 73 kg weight class, Nacu scored three victories, against Daniel Powell of the UK, Slovenia’s Aljaz Gostencnik and Russia’s David Gamosov. He then lost to Tato Grigalashvili of Georgia and in the runoffs was beaten by the Kazakh athlete Didar Khamza.
In the 60 kg class, Mihail Doncila defeated Ioannis Xenofontos of Cyprus and Abdulrahman Aleuwali of Saudi Arabia, but was eliminated by Russia’s Ayub Bliev from the competition.
On October 20, Eugen Matveichuk and Stefan Popa will compete in the 81 kg class. They both started with a victory. Matveichuk won against Andrew Kaswanga of Zambia, while Popa beat Romania’s Andrei Gusa.
