A female judoka who forms part of the national squad and her partner who serves as a senior sub-officer at the Hâncești Police Inspectorate will be tried for hooliganism. The Hâncești District Prosecutor’s Orifice completed the investigation and sent the case to court, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in the evening of May 19, while on the territory of a gas station in Hâncești town, the judoka and the policeman beat a local who allegedly owed money to them. The man suffered multiple injuries.
Shortly after the incident, the two were arrested and remanded in custody for 30 days, the decision being upheld by the Chisinau City Appeals Court.
Hooliganism carries a maximum jail term of five years.
