Judo player Sergiu Toma wins bronze
Moldova’s Sergiu Toma won a bronze medal in the international judo tournament held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The competition closed on October 17, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the qualifying rounds, Sergiu scored four victories, but was beaten in semifinals by the Netherlands’ Elmont Guillaume, who won the competition.
In the same weight class, 81kg, another Moldovan judo player Valeriu Duminica was eliminated in the second round.
Victor Scvortsov, 66kg weight class, was close to winning a victory, but lost in quarterfinals to Italy’s Francesco Faraldo.
The tournament in the Netherlands brought together about 300 athletes from 42 countries. Japan topped the country rankings, with five gold medals won.
