The preliminary hearings in the lawsuit of the ex general Mayor of Chisinau, the leader of the “Alianta Moldova Noastra” party Serafim Urcheanu scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 were postponed until May 22. The adjourning, as on April 14, was caused by the absence of a member of the panel of judges, which is on a sick leave. At the lawsuit was present Serafim Urecheanu, the lawyer, the prosecutor, the president of the court Nadejda Mazur and the judge Nicolae Costin. Nadejda Mazur intended to postpone the preliminary hearings until the next week, but the lawyer, Vasile Rahlea declared he is available only after 3 weeks. In this way, the preliminary hearings upon the lawsuit of Serafim Urcheanu will take place on May 22, at 11:00 AM. Before the meeting, Urecheanu expressed in front of the journalists his hope that the decision of the court will be correctly “taken, according to the legislation not to the indication of the president Voronin”. Serafim Urecheanu is convinced that the trial brief is absolutely political, created at the command of the president Voronin that can not forgive him the defeat in the local elections from 2003. According to Urecheanu, the involvement of Vladimir Voronin in this lawsuit can be proved also by the fact the trial brief closed in 2005 was reopened after almost a year, breaking all the legal stipulations, states the ex-Mayor. He suggested the justice to deal with the “real corruption, which blooms in the country not to obey political orders”. Urecheanu confirmed once again the decision to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in case the national courts will not apply correctly the legal stipulations. Referring to the Accusing Ordinance, the leader of AMN declared it has many mistakes and inaccuracies that he intends to prove in court. Serafim Urecheanu is sure the “ambulance lawsuit” has the ability to wake the dignity in persons as it already happened with some officers of the legal system, and will stimulate the process of remaking the independent justice.
