Judges’ salaries will be raised 2.5 times
Judges’ pays will be increased up to 2.5 times until 2016, in accordance with the action plan on the implementation of the strategy for reforming the justice sector, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities Friday examined the draft action plan. It aroused debates among the lawmakers of the Alliance for European Integration and the Communists.
The plan includes a number of actions aimed at amending the legal framework, making the judges more responsible and improving the work conditions, including by substantially raising the salaries, said Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim.
He specified yet that there will be no essential pay raises this year. Only the judges of the lower courts will benefit from raises.
The average salary of a judge is now about 4,000 lei.
The strategy for reforming the justice sector was adopted by Parliament last December.
