Judges come together for General Assembly

Vice president of the Supreme Court of Justice Iulia Sarcu will be the new permanent member of the Judge Performance Assessment Board, while Stelian Teleuca, who is a judge of the Chisinau Appeals Court, will be the new member of the Disciplinary Board who represents the appeals court judges. The two candidates were selected in the September 11 General Assembly of Judges, IPN reports.

According to the president of the Supreme Council of Magistrates Victor Micu, the first post falls vacant because judge Svetlana Novac reaches the retirement age in November, while the second posts was vacated by Eugenia Conoval, who tendered her resignation and a relevant presidential decree was already issued.

The General Assembly of Judges approved the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct of Judges. According to one of the authors Teo Carnat, who is a member of the Supreme Council of Magistrates, the Code represents a set of principles and norms of conduct for judge, which these should respect when doing their job and outside it. It is also a mechanism for strengthening the judicial system, which will contribute to increasing the people’s confidence in justice.

The General Assembly of Judges of September 11 brought together over 240 judges.
