The judge who mortally hit a pedestrian in Criuleni district by his car was put on probation for a one-year period. He was thus punished for breaking the traffic rules. Prosecutors consider the sentence pronounced by the Centru district court is too mild and intend to appeal it, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in August 2012 the judge travelled at high speed by his car through Ratus village of Criuleni district. He struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street legally. The victim aged 69 died on the spot.
At the request of Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin, the Supreme Council of Magistrates suspended the judge from post until a definitive judgment is passed in this case.
