A judge of the Rascani branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality was arrested for 72 hours following searches performed in his office and at his home. Chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari has told IPN that Judge Oleg Melniciuc is investigated in a case of unjust enrichment.
“When the criminal case was started, there was a reasonable suspicion that the value of the property owned by judge Melniciuc exceeds a lot the legal incomes that he declared,” stated Viorel Morari.
Oleg Melniciuc was among the candidates for president of the Court of Chisinau, which was created by merging the district courts, who were rejected by President Igor Dodon. Earlier, Oleg Melniciuc held the post of president of the Rascani District Court.
